Visitor information
Stratford, the "Tip Top Town in Texas", is situated at the crossroads of two major US highways, U.S. 287 and U.S. 54. Two major railroads also intersect at Stratford, the Santa Fe/ Burlington Northern and the Union Pacific/ Southern Pacific. Quick and Easy access to the metropolitan area of Amarillo, provides access to an international airport, excellent medical facilities. and quality entertainment in the arts. Stratford is one and a half hours from water sports at Lake Meredith and four hours from winter sports in Angel Fire, New Mexico. Two universities, three junior colleges, and several trade schools are within a 40 to 100 radius of Stratford.

Stratford is proud to be the Pheasant Capital of Texas. Wide open spaces with distinct seasons and a moderate climate support irrigated farming of mostly wheat, corn, and grain sorghum along with confined animal feeding operations. Grain, good grass, and water provide a good habitat for wild life. Stratford Chamber of Commerce hosts an annual Pheasant Hunt in December. In addition to hunting, Stratford offers an indoor swimming pool, four city parks, shooting ranges, and little league baseball and basketball. A privately owned health club and country club are also available to visitors.

The Chamber of Commerce is always ready to answer questions and assist in any was possible.
