Sherman County Depot Museum is located at Main Street and Highway 54. A dedicated group of people have organized and maintained the museum over the past twenty years, with changes and improvements. The museum is funded solely by donations and local support. Special events take place throughout the year. Volunteers open the museum on weekdays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. or a tour can be arranged at any time.

Lollipop Junction Day Care Center provides quality child care for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years old. Parents may select all-day, half-day, after-school, or drop-in care arrangements. Licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory services, 51 children can be cared for 5 days per week from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Qualified, trained providers care for the children's physical, mental, social, and emotional needs through planned, delightful, and varied activities. Meals and snacks are served daily at the center. The non-profit center is owned and operated by the Stratford Area Youth Care Agency, Inc. Funding is provided by parent's use fees, donations, board sponsored activities, and state and federal assistance programs.

Sherman County Older Texans ,commonly known as SCOT, was originated in March of 1974. SCOT members met at the County Exhibit Building once a month until 1984. The American Legion Hall, a gift from the American Legion Post 262, became the new home, named SCOT Hall. At present SCOT has daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly activities on an on-going basis. Activities include quilting, ceramics, billiards, dancing, table games, and special holiday and birthday parties. SCOT has their own bus which is used for special day and weekend trips to nearby scenic and recreational attractions.

Sherman County Development Committee, Inc. plays a very important role in the life of the community. The purpose of the committee is to implement strategies to enhance the economic base of Sherman County through increased population, business, and job opportunities. A strategic plan was adopted which include some of the following objectives:

  * Exploring and implementing solutions to housing needs
  * Local business retention and expansion
  * Aggressive attraction efforts for new industry
  * Sponsor educational programs for area businesses and potential start-ups
  * Provide resource materials on business plans, grants, taxes, and financing
  * Implement various marketing programs for Sherman County

Stratford Area Foundation was founded in 1979 for the public benefit of citizens residing in Sherman County and the Stratford Independent School District. Annual members are those who have made a gift(s) for the current year totaling $100.00 or more. Life members are those who have made cumulative gifts totaling more than $10,000.00 in cash or in value. The foundation currently has assets of over $259,270.00 as well as administering two endowment funds of $50,000.00 each created by J. B. and Esther Riffe for the benefit of Texas County, Oklahoma and Sherman County, Texas. Over $265,000 in earnings form the Foundation and Endowments have been distributed to assist with a number of major area enhancements.

Stratford Cemetery Association is an organization that takes special pride in the local cemetery. The City of Stratford is responsible for the daily maintenance of the grounds, however, the efforts of the Stratford Cemetery Association have resulted in numerous improvements and landscaping projects for the cemetery. The Association is funded through contributions and memorials.

Stratford Emergency Medical Services is mush more than just an ambulance ride to the hospital. Located next to Coldwater Manor Nursing Care Center on Beaver Road, Stratford EMS is one of the finest facilities in the sate. The freestanding EMS station houses two fully equipped Paramedic Mobile Intensive Care Unit Ambulances, a large classroom training site, full crews quarters, and staff offices. Stratford EMS maintains an incredible array of training materials and equipment for community and medical professional training. Stratford EMS is staffed with salaried and volunteer EMS professionals. Paramedic crews are on call 24 hours a day , 365 days a year. Ambulances are equipped with cardiac and pulse oximetry monitoring. Paramedic 911 dispatching is provided by Panhandle Emergency Medial Services System and Northwest Texas Hospital.

Sherman County Library serves the citizens of Stratford and Sherman County. Initially sponsored in he 1940's by the Sherman County Extension Council in a room in the Court House, the library today is housed in a 4800 sq. ft. building. In the 1950's, the Prospectus Study Club began its continuing support of the library by coordinating various community fund-raising activities to obtain money to construct a building. The library was built in 1967 on land donated for that purpose. By 1983 extended library services required that the floor space be doubled. This expansion was made possible with matching grants form the Stratford Area Foundation and the Don and Sybil Harrington Foundation. Programs at the library include the Story Time for pre-schoolers, a Summer Reading Program for elementary age young people, and the Adult Literacy contact center for Sherman County.
